I lived in an apartment building with a garbage chute and no recycling. Everything went in together, resulting in a soundscape that was overpowering. So much waste. Adnan Latif, a Yemeni man, detained in Guantanamo for over a decade without any charges against him, chose to end his life. He couldn’t take it anymore. He was treated like garbage.
(Work in progress, installation in Abu Dhabi, where the repetition of his image took over the walls, as the garbage symphony played
in the background.)
